Common Questions

What is Shilajit?

Shilajit [she-luh-jeet] is Sanskrit for "Conqueror of mountains, Destroyer of Weakness."

Shilajit is most commonly found as a black rock or a shiny, sticky-resin substance on cliff faces or in caves. It is essentially several thousand year old compressed plant material and minerals. It has a very distinct flavor and smell.

There is more than one way that nature makes shilajit, but we'll focus on just one.

A particular collection of different plants and herbs exist near eachother at high atltitude. After they live out their life cycle, their decomposing organic material is absorbed into the mountain.

Across several thousand to a million years, that organic material is compressed into a sticky resin from the shifting rock plates in the mountains. It is squeezed through incredibly tiny cracks and veins in the rock and absorbs minerals along the way until it is finally exudated out onto a cliff face or in a cave somewhere.

Due to the natural, extensive process it undergoes, the nutrients (over 80+ minerals & vitamins) are present in their ionic form, which, simply put, means extremely bioavailable.

Is Shilajit safe?

Short answer: Yes!

Longer answer:

Shilajit has been consumed safely for thousands of years as a staple of ayurvedic medicine in India, and is heavily used in China and Russia.

Now that western medicine is getting a hold of it and plugging it into their science-driven systems, there are plenty of scientific papers and articles to read on the various benefits and effects of shilajit.

We encourage you to do your diligence and always be an educated consumer!

Raw shilajit as it is found on the mountain should not be consumed before appropriate purification. Raw shilajit often contains high levels of metal toxicity in the form of lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury, and often has E.coli present as well.

If you have gout, speak with a physician before consuming shilajit.

If you have above "normal" levels of iron, speak with a physician before consuming shilajit.

What are the benefits of shilajit?

Shilajit is known as a panacea, which means "A remedy for all illnesses and maladies."

-Balances Hormones

-Raises Iron Levels

-Clean & Natural Energy (not a stimulant)

-Enhances Sleep

-Increases Memory & Brain Function

-Heals Cognitive Degenerative Diseases

-Alleviates Pain Response

-Increases Nutrient Absorption

-Anti-Inflammatory

-Aids Menstrual Cramps

-Anti-Viral

-Bone Healing

-Increases Oxygen Delivery

-Increases Athletic Performance

-Powerful Detoxifier

-Enhances Cellular Function

-Mitigates Anxiety

Once you start your research on shilajit, you realize it's efficacy isn't a matter of dispute almost anywhere, except for where people interact with fake or wrongly purified products. From over 3,000 years of ancient Ayurvedic wisdom to modern western science, the only dispute is whether it's long lists of benefits is limitless or not...well, and whether it actually makes a man "grow an inch" or not, as is commonly advertised.

Hint: it doesn't.

What form is best to take it in?

There is a ton of misinformation and confusion about shilajit. Arguably the most spread false information is that if you are taking shilajit in any form other than resin, its fake or inferior to resin form.

This is plain and simple, false.

The form of shilajit plays ZERO role in deciding whether it is authentic or effective.

Powder, liquid, resin. It can all be real and effective.

Choose the form that works best for you!
